As members of [OgV], we strive to honor military veterans every day and promote behavior true to basic human courtesy. We respect and honor our ancestors, elders, our mothers and fathers, and each other.
Core Values
Honor - The quality that guides us to exemplify the ultimate in ethical and moral behavior; never to lie, cheat, or steal; to abide by an uncompromising code of integrity; to respect human dignity; to have respect and concern for each other. The quality of maturity, dedication, trust, and dependability that commits us to act responsibly; to be accountable for our actions.
Courage - The heart of our core values, courage is the mental, moral, and physical strength ingrained in us to carry us through the challenges of life and the mastery of fear; to do what is right; to adhere to a higher standard of personal conduct; to lead by example, and to make tough decisions under stress and pressure. It is the inner strength that enables us to take that extra step.
Commitment - The spirit of determination and dedication within members that leads to professional mastery in all our endeavors. It leads to the highest order of discipline for the group and self; it is the ingredient that enables 24-hour-a-day dedication; pride; concern for others; and an unrelenting determination to achieve a standard of excellence in every endeavor. Commitment is the value that establishes us as the warrior and citizen others strive to emulate.
General Philosophy
Team play, team spirit, and mutual respect for all players are paramount. The fundamental [OgV] ideology is to play, score, and participate with and for the group, not for the individual. Game-playing or group participation just for one's self is considered poor sportsmanship and therefore not honorable. In [OgV], good sportsmanship and mutual respect are mandatory. Whether you are participating on private [OgV] servers, [OgV] forums, or as an [OgV]-at-large in the world wide web, represent our community with a balanced dose of courtesy, tact and humor. What you do online in the public arena when you are not representing [OgV] is entirely your own business. What you do while in [OgV] uniform is ours.
[OgV] is a multicultural community. The [OgV] community represents numerous and varied personal philosophies, morals, cultural mores, political beliefs, religious beliefs, and more. Therefore it is incumbent upon all members to refrain from questionable actions. It's simply a matter of respect for the others. If you use a tag, signature, or spray, or make a religious, political, or sexual comment that any other member finds offensive or upsetting, you must respect their wishes to remove or retract it. Concern for the other persons well being is essential. By the same token, if you are overly sensitive or are too easily offended, the [OgV] may not be the organization for you.
Be advised – Sex, Religion, and Politics are the most controversial of issues and should generally not be discussed in public. With freedom of speech comes the freedom to be civil. Many people who argue for freedom of speech and become abusive and antagonistic in online forums and voice over IP (TeamSpeak/Ventrilo) are really saying: "I want to say whatever I choose, however destructive, uninformed, hostile, abusive, and manipulative it may be, and I don't want to be informed of any mistakes I may make in fact or logic. I've been everywhere and done everything so don't question me." That may be an exhibition of freedom of speech, but it's more representative of social irresponsibility and lack of respect for themselves or anyone else. Such behavior will not be tolerated in [OgV] or on our servers.
