Ventrilo / Teamspeak registration is a privilege, not a right.

  1. Call signs WILL NOT be offensive. [OgV] members must be in proper unifrom.
  2. Disrespect toward admins or any other player WILL NOT be tolerated.
  3. Non-members are free to use any of the public channels (gaming channels). All other channels are reserved for [OgV] members only. Non-members may be present in "Members Only channels" if invited. Be aware the protocols for "Members Only channels" may differ significantly from the rules in public channels.
  4. [OgV] membership limited to people 18 years of age and over. Foul language is common in military circles especially in the heat of combat. We realize sometimes one might let out an offensive word or two during the game. This should be kept to a minimum on public channels. Remember this is a public server and at times there are minors visiting us on the pubs. Use discretion by checking who is on the channel and be mindful when visitors are present.
  5. Non-member registered users (along with their registration sponsor) be held accountable for their actions.
  6. Respect for privacy will be strictly enforced. Announce your presence in all command staff offices by stating: “Permission to enter, sir(s)?”
  7. Keep chatter to a minimum in combat channels during combat. No one needs to hear a narrative of your actions in game.
  8. Do not spam voice channels including broadcasting media or sound files in combat channels.
  9. Failure to abide by these rules or those given by a Ventrilo Admin may result in your being kicked or banned with or without warning.

Membership in [OgV] is a privilege that must be earned through hard work and dedication. For members hoping to be involved in leadership of [OgV] much more will be asked - the ability to follow orders, learning and respecting the military chain of command, and consistent dependable service to [OgV] and your fellow [OgV] members is required.

ALL members, regardless of status, must observe our Code of Ethics and Conduct, agree with our general philosophy, observe and promote our core values, and follow our rules.

There are two types of active member status: initiated and uninitiated.

- Initiated members include any active duty or honorably discharged military veteran and those civilian members who have elected to participate in and pass our "recruit" training.

Initiated members can be determined on the forums or in voice servers by having one or both of the following: a -V included in their tag ( as in [OgV-V] ) for veterans and/or a military rank included as part of their handle. Initiated members are the people from whom we select for leadership positions within [OgV]. Additionally, once they have achieved a status of at least NCO, they can be assigned as an admin for our game servers.

- Uninitiated members have been nomonated by an initiated member after establishing a favorable reputation on our game and voice servers and have been approved by the Council of Elders.

Uninitiated members will not normally be selected for leadership roles or be given server administrator priveledges. Aditionally, uninitiated members get no [OgV] tags of any sort during their evaluation period and may not even know they are being evaluated until they are invited to join. The length of the evaluation period is not specified and will vary depending on many factors (thinks months vice days or weeks) and in no case will be any shorter than the recruit period for initiated members.

This Charter is established by, and for, the [OgV] membership. With it, the authority to act on behalf of the membership, with respect to all matters concerning the membership, is granted to the Council of Elders.

Who we are

[OgV] is very unique online gaming community. We are devoted to team based combat games (as well as other games), their “mods” and custom maps. The brotherhood we share goes far beyond gaming. [OgV] is comprised of active duty and ex-military members, fire fighters, EMT personnel, police officers, other civil servants, and adult civilians from all walks of life with the desire to bond with this very special group. All of our members place a high value on teamwork and personal responsibility.

Our Mission

We actively support the military and public servants through website tribute forums, internet radio broadcasting, online Memorial and Veteran's day ceremonies, as well as in other ways. We provide an online home with people that understand the commitment and the sacrifice of military and public service, as well as the sacrifices of their families. To our civilian membership we offer a glimpse into the structure and bond these communities enjoy, as well as, the gift of camaraderie associated with being a part of it.

In general, the following promotion status will be followed for all non-veteran initiated members:

  • E-1: Recruit
  • E-2: Upon graduation of Recruit Training.
  • E-3: Two months time in grade as E-2. The member is responsible for the request for advancement up the appropriate Company Chain of Command.

NOTE: No time in grade waivers will be considered for E-3 and below

For advancements E-4 through E-6 a formal evaluation must be conducted by the Company staff (CO/XO/SEA) and submitted to the Council. The Company Command staff does not require Council approval to advance the member, but must wait at least 72 hours from the time the evaluation formally submitted to the Council prior to informing the member of advancement. This also applies, along with additional requirements outlined below, to advancements to O-1 or O-2.

The Old Gaming Veterans [OgV] is governed by a group of senior Officers and Non-commissioned Officer's (NCO) organized as a Council of Elders (the Council). Many are active duty and former military veterans. A motion or decision passed by the Council may be appealed to the High Council. High Council rulings are final. The Council will always be an odd number to prevent a tie. The Council of Elders represents the entire membership in all matters and each member of the Council has an equal voice.

We are a military veteran operated clan. Our rules are simple: fight fair, hard, and with honor and respect. Good sportsmanship is a cornerstone of our game play.

In General - Our servers are not the place to air out your dislike of political or personal issues. If you cannot leave racial bigotry, ethnic slurs, and other socially dysfunctional maladies at the door, you will be asked (once, and then forced) to leave. If you like to spend most of your time typing smak in game, get a secretarial job. Otherwise, you're just taking up space on our server and contributing nothing. "Shut up and play" is the only warning you will get before you are kicked. These are gentlemen's games and will be played as such, at all times, on our servers. We run a tight ship here according to our Code of Ethics and Conduct as well as our Charter. We welcome those who share a higher standard of excellence in both life and gaming and respect our ideals. We try not over-admin our servers with pointless rules as it detracts from the game. The following, however, are some rules we do enforce. This is the only warning you may receive.

We are an online group of military veterans, public servants, and their friends. Those of us in the military (those in public service - Police, EMT, Firefighters, etc.- have taken similar) have taken the oath:

I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

You will find that we are regular people in most respects. What separates us from others cannot be adequately described in words. We share a common bond derived from similar sets of core beliefs and values fostering a strong sense truth to self and duty (service) to others. It is these commonalities which bring us together and cement our "family" relationship. We serve not because we have to, but because we can. We serve for those who can't and those who won't. We serve for those who have come before us - to ensure the value of their sacrifice and pass it on. To take what they have given us and leave something better when we pass it on.

It is our similar set of experiences which shapes our sense of humor and those things we find offensive, please keep that in mind while you visit our site and forums. If you don't like what you see, then silently move on. If you offend us, or the memory of our brothers and sisters past, you will be banned - we aren't looking for a fight here, we come here to relax and enjoy the company. If we offend you, we apologize in advance - it isn't our intent.
